Tour de Trails Events

The Columbus, Indiana People Trail System is available for all types of people powered transportation. It is an ever evolving system with a final goal of connecting our citizens and guests of our city, to key destinations throughout our community. The overall goal for future expansion of our trail system is to bring a bicycle or pedestrian facility connection within 3 blocks of 90 percent of our residents. Your participation in the Tour de Trails event(s) provides needed funds for maintenance. We thank you for joining us in this exciting and growing event!

5K Walk/Run, 8K Run and Free Kids Fun Run

The 2020 course will feature the Hawcreek Trail and the refurbished Newbern Bridge.

Registration and Event Information

Register Online by July 26 to save $5.00 off the $25.00 entry fee and guarantee your shirt size (additional $5.00 for shirt).  The reason why you see a lot of races requiring this two week pre-registration deadline is so we can get an accurate number of the t-shirts for the company we order through. Therefore, all those that haven’t pre-registered on or before July 26 will be subject to a first come first serve basis on how many extra shirts the event organizers have purchased.  Long story short, always pre-register!  Pre-registration ends Sunday, August 2.

Onsite registration/packet pick-up will be available from 7:00-8:00 a.m. with the 8K Run beginning at 8:00 a.m. (staggered start) and the 5K Run & Walk following, also with staggered starts.

After you finish your run/walk grab a Tropical Smoothie Café smoothie to go!  All participants will receive an email later in the day with race results.  Awards will be available for pick up at Donner Center the following week.

Social distancing will be followed and masks are encouraged pre and post race.

There will be no Kids Fun Run this year.

COVID-19 Protocols

What we are doing to keep you safe:

  • All staff will be required to wear masks at all times at the event
  • Six feet of space will be held between tables
  • Masks, hand sanitizer and gloves will be available at the tables where participants fill out forms
  • Six feet spaces will be marked where participants have to stand in lines
  • Staggered start times will be in effect to reduce gatherings of participants

What you can do to keep yourself and others safe:

  • Face coverings are required at check-in and while at event site, except while racing
  • Maintain social distancing whenever possible
  • There will not be water stops on the course, it is encouraged that you bring your own water bottles.
  • There will be no post-race awards ceremony or activities – please disperse after finishing and picking up a smoothie.
  • You will be notified if you have placed. If you have placed you will be able to pick up your award at Donner Center beginning Monday, August 1.
  • Do not participate if you have any Covid-19 symptoms

Race Results

Results will be announced timely and emailed after the race.  Indiana Timing will be timing the event and results will be posted at www.indianatiming.com by 5:00 p.m. the day of the race.
Special awards will be awarded to the overall male and female winners of the 8K Run and 5K Run.  5K Walk Awards will be awarded to the overall top 5 male walkers and top 5 female walkers.  Run Awards will be given to the top TWO in each of the following age groups: 11 & Under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 & Over
Awards can be picked up at Donner Center, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. beginning Monday, August 10.

20K, 50K & 80K Bicycle Challenge

We want all our events to be enjoyable and safe for our participants, and after careful consideration and working through all the possibilities we have decided to cancel the 2020 Bicycle Challenge.  We feel that with all the changes we would need to make to keep participants and volunteers safe, it would not be an enjoyable event.  We hope to see you in May of 2021.
